Devil in the Woods
2003-10-16 - 6:38 p.m.
I saw the devil in the woods last night,
He drew himself up to a tiptoe height,
He wandered round, my narrow road,
And inquired of me, where I might go.
I spoke to the devil in the woods last night,
My first mistake, in a different light,
Which at the moment seemed quite right,
I spoke to the devil in the woods last night.
I stood in the clearing with Beelzebub,
And listened till I’d heard enough,
Of what the devil had to say,
And then I tried to walk away.
He let me go, but followed near,
And every step or two I’d hear,
His words, carried on a fetid breath,
“The countless damned, and damn you next!”
I ran from the devil in the woods last night,
Oh, I put up an awful fight,
But in the end, he’d always win,
It's hard to fight what lives within.
I saw the devil in the woods tonight,
And his eyes lit up with a hellish light.
Which he covered up with a toothy grin,
And I danced with the devil in the woods again.
